Psychology

Glenn Adams, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Psychology, faculty associate director of the Kansas African Studies Center, and director of the Cultural Psychology Research Group at the University of Kansas. His graduate training included two years of field research in Ghana, which provided the empirical foundation for his research on the cultural-psychological foundations of relationships. Adams’s current research builds on the foundation of his work in Ghana. He is investigating the cultural hierarchies of knowledge as established by colonists in colonies and articulating models of human development and practices that promote sustainable well-being for broader humanity. Throughout Adams’s fellowship, he will collaborate with Spencer staff to consider how the Museum’s collection and exhibitions can better relate to the KU Core Learning Goals of critical thinking, global awareness, and appreciation for diversity.
