Dalton Howard Award
Dalton Howard was a beloved member of the Spencer Museum family, serving as a Spencer security officer from 1992 to 2010. A passionate artist, musician, thinker, and good friend, his spirit continues to live on in the Museum. This award, made possible through a generous donation by Dalton’s dear friends the Hultquists, honors Spencer student employees who, like Dalton, are artists at heart. Recipients are nominated and selected annually by Spencer staff.
Rajat, a graduate student in engineering, has done stellar work as the academic programs intern while acting as an excellent ambassador for the Museum by volunteering at and attending various Museum events and making everyone he speaks with feel welcome. He has also shared with us his talents as an artist, creating many beautiful paintings inspired by his time at KU and the Spencer.
Megan, a junior in visual art, has been a dedicated student employee at the Spencer for three years. She shows serious passion for her work and can always be trusted to perform her duties at an exceptional level. Through her work to digitize objects in the collection, photograph events, and digitize archives, Megan has made major contributions to Museum.
Rachel, a graduate student in visual art education, has creatively and energetically served as the Spencer’s graduate assistant education intern for two years. Her exemplary service has resulted in the development of numerous youth and family outreach activities. Rachel has also worked to organize the Museum’s Classroom Collection, enabling greater use across K–12 and university curricula.
