Libby Schmanke (Emporia State) shares the early contributions of Kansans Mary Huntoon, Robert Ault, and Elizabeth “Grandma” Layton to the field of art therapy. The presentation includes art slides from some of these pioneers and outlines ways that art therapy can help people. This event is related to the exhibition “Mary Huntoon: Artist & Art Therapist,” and is supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation as part of an initiative to conserve works on paper in the collections of KU Libraries and the Spencer Museum of Art.
