Andrew W. Mellon Academic Programs Initiative Challenge Grant

In the fall of 2008, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation recognized the Spencer Museum of Art’s strong history of collaborative practice by awarding a $1.2 million challenge grant to expand the Museum’s teaching and research across the University of Kansas. This award places the Spencer Museum of Art and the University of Kansas in the company of institutions including Yale, Duke, the Rhode Island School of Design, Harvard, and the University of Chicago—university art museums that are leaders in embedding their collections in multidisciplinary teaching and research, from the humanities to the sciences.

The Spencer Museum of Art wishes to thank supporters who are helping to launch the Andrew W. Mellon Academic Programs Initiative campaign with annual contributions and multi-year pledges.
