The Spencer Museum of Art’s collection of works on paper is housed in the Max Kade-Erich H. Markel Department of Graphic Arts, located on the south end of the museum’s third floor. It is overseen by the curator of prints ad drawings and the curator of photography. The study room, where visitors can view works, adjoins the office of the curator of prints and drawings (see the wall map near the museum’s 3rd floor entrance).

To make an appointment to view works on paper, call either the office of the curator of prints and drawings the curator of photography at (785) 864-4710. Before coming to an appointment, it is helpful to have an idea of what you would like to see. At the Spencer, works on paper are indexed by artist name and nationality, not by subject or title. Therefore, it is helpful to know artists’ names before you get to the appointment. If you don’t know an artist’s name, you may be able to find this information at a library. There you will find books on the history of prints of photography that tell you which artist did the work that interests you. The Spencer staff is also happy to help.
