Also on exhibit in the Asian Gallery are selections from the collection of Asian ceramics and textiles. The Spencer collection of Asian textiles dates from the late 17th century to the early 20th century and includes fine examples of Qing dynasty court costumes, Buddhist vestments and temple furnishings, Japanese folk textiles, embroideries from northwest India, and shawls from Kashmir. In addition to very fine examples of later Ming and Qing dynasty ceramic ware, the collection includes an exceptional group of Korean Koryo celadons from the 12th-13th centuries and outstanding contemporary Japanese ceramics.
