An activity for elementary-school children
We’re glad you came to the museum today. Here are some ideas to try at home with your paper, glue stick, texture plate, clay, and craft stick.
Create a picture using the craft paper:
- Draw a picture of animals or people.
- Cut out pieces of craft paper to add visual texture your picture.
- Glue the pieces of paper to your picture.
Create a picture using the texture plate:
- Draw a picture.
- Place the picture on top of the texture plate.
- Use a crayon or pencil to color in an area of your picture in which you would like that texture to show.
Create a picture and draw in visual texture or, with an adult’s permission, glue on materials that will give your picture real texture. For example, use pieces of material, yarn, string, buttons, etc.
Make a sculpture out of the clay (person, animal, favorite belonging):
- Use the craft stick to carve texture into your sculpture
- How would you make hair, clothes, etc?
- With an adult’s permission, you could add things to your sculpture. (material, yarn, string, buttons, etc.)
