Children’s Workshop: Sonic Stories / Music Into Art

Professional percussionist, composer, and storyteller Cory Hills brings his sonic art form and musical expertise into the Spencer Museum of Art in this four-day workshop for children aged 6-12 years. Students will work with Cory to devise original stories inspired by works of art from the Spencer’s collection. Using a variety of professional and home-made instruments, Hills will work with the students to create original musical compositions to bring the stories to life and to improvise in response to the artistic works selected. The workshop will culminate in a live collaborative music and story-telling performance in the Central Court of the Spencer Museum of Art, on Thursday, June 25th, 2009 at 6.30 PM. This public event is free and will also feature original compositions by Hills.
