It Starts with Art!: Family Activities
This spring, while our regular It Starts with Art program is on hiatus, the Spencer Museum of Art invites you to join us for some new family programs. We will experiment with new formats for multigenerational youth and family activities that include a variety of interactive, object-based explorations. These programs are free and open to the public.
Spencer Art Cart
Saturdays: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM & Sundays: 12:00 – 4:00 PM
The Art Cart is a fun new format to enjoy art and art making in the museum. Every weekend you can now come to the museum with your kids, friends, parents or just yourself, and create a work of art based on one of the amazing artworks in our collection. Each month a new activity will be prepared for the Art Cart in one of the many galleries here at the Spencer. Utilizing a variety of mediums, techniques, and subject matter, the Art Cart is always on the move to explore new artworks, ideas, and ways for you to connect with the collection. Available every Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Sunday from noon to 4:00 PM you are free to stop by and create at your convenience.

Arts & Cultures Festival
May 5: 1:00 – 3:00 PM
Celebrate the season at the annual Spring Arts & Culture Festival, co-sponsored by the SMA Student Advisory Board. Explore the current SMA exhibitions and enjoy live music and performances, artists' demonstrations, and a variety of family activities.

Family Day: Cryptographs!
June 17: 1:00 – 3:00 PM
Spend a captivating and fun-filled afternoon at the Spencer discovering a world of hidden secrets, puzzles, and cryptographs in the Museum's collection and a special exhibition honoring Alan Turing (1912-1954), the brilliant British mathematician, logician, cryptanalyst, and pioneering computer scientist.
