A $1.2 million Mellon Foundation grant to KU's Spencer Museum of Art places it among the nation's elite university art museums at Yale, Duke, Chicago and Rhode Island. It will allow for expanded use of Spencer's collections in teaching and research throughout KU.

Globe-O-Mania, the wildly successful trivia challenge for KU students, invites members of the public for the first time to show off their geography mettle in a quiz show-style contest. The competition starts at 2 p.m. Dec. 7 at Spooner Hall.

KU engineering students are trying to create vehicle -- a 1974 Super Beetle -- that can get 500 miles per gallon of gas. The project is part of a class taught by Chris Depcik, assistant professor of mechanical engineering.
