Wahl was born in Dillon, Kansas, and studied at the University of Kansas and the Kansas City Art Institute. He studied lithography with Bolton Brown in Woodstock, New York, and was one of the primary lithographic printers for the depression-era Works Progress Administration, in New York City. The tall tower allowed air into dugout when it was covered in deep snow. It may also have provided a means in and out of the dugout when snowed in. (visitor comments)
