Loan: Collection of Steven Schmidt Nichols was born in David City, Nebraska. He was raised on a farm and went on to study art at the Chicago Academy of Fine Art: the Art Institute of Chicago, and in Vienna. Nichols has remarked that the subject of this lithograph emphasizes the social importance of company for supper (usually on Sundays) before “the radio and the hard road.” (North, 83, citing Pagano and Bear, no. 83) Sources
