Spencer Museum of Art: anonymous gift, 1998.0528 Nelson was born in New Rochelle, New York. He studied at the Académie Julian in Paris. He was the proprietor of the Seven Hearths home, built in 1751, in Kent, Connecticut (now the Kent Historical Society’s headquarters). This is one of the few prints in the exhibition that suggests the work of maintaining the home (note the laundry drying on the line) as well as agricultural work of the farm. Sources
