Spencer Museum of Art: Gift of Bud and Ruby Jennings, Prairie Print Makers Collection, 1991.0337
Hotvedt was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He studied at the University of Minnesota and the Art Institute of Chicago. Most of his career was spent in Wichita, where he was a charter member of the Prairie Print Makers. (O’Neill and Foreman, 44-47).This seventy-year-old farmer looks out at the pasture with only the simple comforts of a pot of coffee, a potted geranium, and a walking stick by his side. The same figure with his walking stick is seen in another drypoint by Hotvedt, Old & Tired.
