Loan: Collection of Steven Schmidt Geary was a native of Clarence, Missouri. He remained in Missouri throughout his life, studying at William Jewell College in Liberty and the Kansas City Art Institute, and residing in Carrollton, Missouri. (North, 63) Hay wagons often had vertical racks as seen here and elsewhere in the exhibition; these were a permanent fixture on hay wagons to help hold the loose hay in place before the advent of square bales.
