Loan: Collection of Steven Schmidt Albee was born in Scituate, Rhode Island. She studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and was instructed in wood engraving in Paris. Many of her subjects were drawn from the Albee family farm near Hidden Spring, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. (North, p. 35). In the foreground is a corncrib, testimony to the difficulty of getting corn to dry in the open field in Pennsylvania. Sources
