Dr. Marilyn Stokstad, Judith Harris Murphy Distinguished Professor Emerita of Art History, created The Marilyn J. Stokstad Spencer Museum of Art Student Award to honor undergraduate and/or graduate students who have made major contributions to the mission of the Spencer Museum. The recipient of this annual award is selected by the museum staff members.
Dalton Howard was a longtime and beloved member of the Spencer Museum, serving as a security officer from 1992 to 2010. A passionate artist, musician, thinker, and good friend, his spirit lives on at the Museum. Made possible through a generous donation by Dalton’s friends the Hultquists, the award honors students who, like Dalton, are artists at heart. Recipients of this award are selected by Museum staff members.
Funded by benefactor Lavon Brosseau, these awards recognize outstanding submissions to the annual student juried art show organized by the Spencer Student Advisory Board.
