Scanning Questions:

  1. Describe the colors you see. Are the mostly bright or mostly dull? Where did the artist use the brightest colors?
  2. Look for organic and geometric shapes. Describe the shapes you find.
  3. Besides the squares in the front, what else has the artist repeated?
  4. This artist used line in several ways. Where are the horizontal and vertical lines? Where are the thin and thick lines?
  5. What kinds of patterns do you see in the fabric pieces? Which pattern unifies the artwork?
  6. How does the artist show deep space?
  7. How did the artist use the technique of quilting to create three-dimensionality?
  8. Do you think this is a quiet scene, or is there a sense of motion or action?
  9. Can you guess what the cat is thinking? How did the artist convey this?
