  1. What textures does the scroll have? Do they remind you of things from nature?
  2. Are the shapes in the painting more organic or geometric?
  3. Is the painting symmetrical or asymmetrical?
  4. How did the artist use brush strokes to lead your eye through the painting?
  5. How do you think the artist made some parts darker and some more faint?
  6. Do you think he used a wide paintbrush or a thin one?
  7. Do you think the artist planned how this was going to look, or was it spontaneous?
  8. Does this show something from real life, or is it abstract?
  9. How has the artist made his signature?
  10. Compare and contrast these objects and their relationship to written words.
