Ten images from the book of poems by Max Elskamp illuminated with his own woodcuts. Elskamp completed much of the carving of the woodcuts for this book around 1903-1905, but it was not printed in its final form until 1923. The last two images shown here are the two full page openings that comprise one complete poem with its graphic ornamentaion. You will also see an amusing tailpiece.
