Dialogue with the Director

Marilyn Stokstad | Charles Eldredge

November | December 2007

The Spencer Museum of Art in 2008 celebrates its 30th anniversary. In anticipation of that milestone, Director Saralyn Reece Hardy recently met in the galleries with two former directors.

Dr. Marilyn Stokstad, Judith Harris Murphy Distinguished Professor Emerita of Art History—who even in "retirement" still maintains a busy scholarly life and a space at the Spencer—was KU Art Museum director from 1961 to 1968.

Dr. Charles C. Eldredge, Hall Distinguished Professor of American Art & Culture, was director from 1971 to 1982, guiding the KU Art Museum into its new home and current iteration as the Spencer Museum of Art.
